BoyMomLovesBooks

I am a full-time mom of boys, nursing student, and professional reader/reviewer. I love to read anything and everything but usually shy away from westerns. I love helping out authors, especially up and coming authors. I am just getting this blog up and running, so bear with me as I get things set up and get to posting. Feel free to contact me for reviews. I will let you know a general timeline on when to expect my review. Right now I'm working about 2-3 weeks on reviews. I will post reviews here, goodreads, amazon, smashwords, and audible if an audiobook.

Visions (The Mystical Encounter #1) by Kimberly Readnour

Visions - Kimberly Readnour

*I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review *

This is the first book that I have read from Kimberly Readnour and I have to say that I was very impressed! I felt so bad for Heather at the start of this book at how rejected she was for having such a useful gift. Once she got involved in a very heart wrenching situation, she showed her strength. The book as a whole was awesome and all the characters were well rounded. I can't wait to find out what happens in the next one!!

Book Synopsis from Amazon:

Heather Reiner is not your typical teenager. Her abilities reach far beyond the norm, and she’s just beginning to discover the possibilities.

Growing up different from her peers has not been easy. Ridiculed by classmates, Heather moves to another state, but soon realizes she can’t run from a problem that begins within.

A guy from her new school, Barry, is captivated the first time he sees her. Determined to know her better, he learns her layers of complication run deep. With persistence, he chips away at her shield until each protective layer starts unveiling itself.

Heather wants a chance to be normal, but secrets never stay hidden forever. They reveal themselves when least expected. Is normalcy obtainable, or will the mystery about herself be discovered? And if discovered, will Barry be like everyone else and turn away?

Visions is book one of a young adult mystery thriller trilogy.

Kimberly Readnour from Amazon:

I have always enjoyed reading books, but within the last five years discovered my passion for writing. Ever since childhood, I imagined writing a novel, but never took the time to pick up a pen. Oops, showing my age... I mean laptop. When my daughter reached her teenage years, I found my reason to start composing those stories.

I worked for fifteen years as a Registered Nurse before hanging-up my stethoscope. Now, I run my own business while continuing to write during any downtime.

I'm blessed with a wonderful husband and two children. The dynamics in our household changed when my oldest left for college, but I can't say it was bad. Different, but definitely not bad. Each stage of life has been amazing, as to which I'm truly grateful.

Oh my goodness! I've read all three of these books separately and then again in the trilogy set! They are amazing. The world of Feyland that Mrs. Sharp has created is amazing. If you like fae stories, gaming, romance, or are just in the mood to try something new then you need to get this book right now! You will never again look at a video game the same way! Review of The Homecoming Masquerade (Girls Wearing Black: Book One) by Spencer Baum

I bought both the book and then the audio upgrade since I love audiobooks. From the beginning, I was hooked on this book. This is not your typical high school book nor your typical vampire book. It has a new twist on both of them and boy did it work! This book has a bit of everything: vampires, coming of age, spy network, Washington DC power plays, a tiny bit if romance sprinkled in, high school jealousies, and the top 10%. It is a well rounded book that touches on so many different directions while at the same time weaving them all together so you don't get lost. It's very well done, and the narrator was very good as well. I recommend this book. I cannot wait to continue this series!! Another 5 STAR BOOK!!

Review of Hunters Moon, The Fae Medallion: Book 1 In The Seer's Of The Moon Series by Geraldine Allie

Hunters Moon, The Fae Medallion (Seer's Of The Moon #1) - Geraldine Allie

* I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review *

I am a huge lover of audiobooks and of fantasy so I was excited to get the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for a review. This book was a little different than I am used to but not in a bad way, just different. The story was original for the most part. I actually thought the whole story was until the smallest mention of Merlin. Not that this book is another "Arthur" book, because it's not AT ALL. But there is a relation there. Besides that, beautifully written original story. This definitely is an audiobook that you need to either sit down with the purpose of listening to, or listen while driving. It is a story that you need to pay attention too, but it deserves your attention and you will not regret giving it. I'm off to listen to book 2 now, but please pick up some format of this story and get started on the series! It is well worth your time and money.   SOLID 5 STARS!!

Review of Blue Moon: The Ring of Mer (Seer's Of The Moon Book 2) by Geraldine Allie

Blue Moon: The Ring of Mer (Seer's of the Moon) - Geraldine Allie

* I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review *

This is the second book of the series and it was just about as good as the first. There is a big battle brewing and you can feel it throughout the book. Finding the seers and their guardians is the main tasks at the moment, but we are getting to the battle. I think once we get there, things will heat up very quickly! I give this book a SOLID 4 STARS!!

The Fall of Brackenbone

The Fall of Brackenbone - Roy Huff This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was awesome! It grabbed me and kept me until the very end. Definitely a must read

Three Sisters

Three Sisters - Helen Smith **I received this book in exchange for an honest review *

This book is a solid 4 stars. It was funny, quirky, and fast paced. Not a long read but one that you will want to finish once you get going. The first few pages were kind of slow for me but after that it sped up and didn't stop til the end. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series!

Wish You Weren't

Wish You Weren't - Sherrie Petersen *I listened to this on audio.
Wish you weren't was a good story about a preteen boy learning a valuable lesson. It involves time travel, family issues, sibling fights, and wishing on a star. It was a pretty good story, especially for middle grade level. I would definitely recommend for children with siblings as well. The narrator did a pretty good job, the only thing was that sometimes he didn't have much feeling in his voice. Over all it was a good story that I definitely would listen to/read again.

Blackbird (A Stepbrother Romance)

Blackbird (A Stepbrother Romance) - Abigail Graham **I received this bookin exchange for an honest review * *

This is actually the first step brother romance book I've read plus the first of this author I've read and wow! It's amazing! I'm not one to give spoilers away but I will tell you that this book has it all: romance, betrayal, murder, judicial system, a bit of mystery, and an awesome car! I love this book and am going to hunt down the rest of Abigail Graham's books very quickly. The only, and I mean ONLY reason I didn't give this book 5 stars is due to a few editing errors. There's maybe 5 throughout the book and they are usually 2 words switched, so nothing that is very bothersome while reading. You definitely need to give this book a try!!

Before the Sky Fell

Before the Sky Fell - Aria Michaels I absolutely loved this book! I'm not usually big on prequels since they tend to be short and I always feel like there is something missing, but Aria Michaels did a wonderful job with this book. It was not novel length, but was much longer than a normal 90 page prequel. Starting the Icarus journey was great and not so great. I was able to relate to Liv at so many different places in this book that it was actually kind of scary. She has the typical teen angst attitude to start with, a little brother whom she loves and 2 loving parents. Tragedy strikes but thankfully saves Liv and Beans. Now we have a roller coaster of guilt, anger, pity, and fear all wrapped in a bow of a group home and the foster care system. I am not going to give any more away, but you definitely need to take this ride with Liv and Beans. **But, while on this journey be prepared for all kinds of emotions to come flowing out of you. I laughed, got angry, and cried all multiple times in this story. I'm now on to book 2, Killshot, because I HAVE to find out what is next!
